Rep. Estes Announces Airport Grants for Eisenhower, Jabara

WICHITA – Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) announced federal grants for Wichita's Dwight D Eisenhower National Airport and Colonel James Jabara Airport totaling $4,458,663. The grants are funded by the Coronavirus Relief and Response Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act of 2020.

"In the Air Capital of the World, we've witnessed drastic effects in air travel due to the coronavirus pandemic," said Rep. Estes. "Thanks to provisions in the Coronavirus Relief and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act we passed last year, Wichita's Eisenhower and Jabara Airports can cover the expenses they incurred to keep travelers safe over the past year."

The $4.5 million in grants will help cover the costs both airports incurred related to operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial service payments, and combatting the spread of the coronavirus, as well economic relief from rent and minimum annual guarantees to on-airport car rental, on-airport parking, and in-terminal concessions.

Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport will receive a total of $4,401,663 for two grants. Colonel James Jabara Airport will receive a single grant totaling $57,000.

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
