Rep. Estes Votes Again to Sanction Russia, End Oil Purchases

WASHINGTON – Today Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) voted to pass two bills further isolating Russia. Both bills had already passed the House, but required an additional vote following changes and passage in the Senate.

"The atrocities we've seen in Ukraine have been heart-wrenching, and there's no question that the United States should stand with our allies and isolate Putin," said Rep. Estes. "For a second time, I voted to end U.S. purchases of Russian oil and suspend normal trade relations."

Before the House voted in favor of suspending normal trade relations with Russia the first time, Rep. Estes addressed the legislation and the atrocities by Putin on the House floor.

Rep. Estes has previously addressed the attacks on Ukraine, voted to sanction Russian oil, commended Ukraine President Zelensky's address to Congress, voted to end normal trade relations with Russia, and cosponsored H.R. 7083 – the Make Russia Pay Act, H.R. 6748 – the Midland Over Moscow Act, and H.R. 7014 – a stronger suspension of trade relations with Russia.
