WASHINGTON— Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) applauded the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) announced investment to improve electric infrastructure in south central Kansas. The $6.5 million Rural Development loan will fund 79 miles of new or improved line and $39,600 in smart grid technology to improve efficiency and security. "In addition to roads and internet, investing in our electric infrastructure is critical to our economy and quality of life," said Rep. Estes. "This loan will help improve the electric grid, security and efficiency in south central Kansas. I want to thank the USDA for investing in our region." The USDA loan was presented to the Ninnescah Rural Electric Cooperative Association, Inc. which serves over 4,200 customers and over 2,129 miles of line in 10 counties across south central Kansas.
