Rep. Estes Announces Rural Airport Grants
WASHINGTON – Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) announced eleven Department of Transportation grants for rural airports in south central Kansas. Funding for these grants comes from the CARES Act Congress passed in late March.
"The plains of Kansas are no stranger to aviation, and these grants for airports throughout our District will provide needed funding during these challenging times," said Rep. Estes. "Thanks to the CARES Act, airports in Barber, Butler, Cowley, Greenwood, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Pawnee, Pratt and Sumner counties will receive a combined $339,000 to keep planes flying in these communities."
Rep. Estes supported the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, making $10 billion in grants available for airports. He previously announced a grant for Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport and announced today that Colonel James Jabara Airport in Wichita would also receive a grant.
