Rep. Estes Announces Grants for Eisenhower, Jabara Airports

WASHINGTON – Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) announced Department of Transportation grants for Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport and Colonel James Jabara Airport, both in Wichita. Eisenhower National Airport will receive $5,567,446, which includes $5,010,701 from the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and $556,745 from the CARES Act that will cover the local match to fund the project at 100% federal share. Jabara Airport will receive $157,000 through CARES Act funding.

"For more than a century, flight has been an integral part of Kansas and Wichita history," said Rep. Estes. "Today, COVID-19 threatens air travel not only here in the Sunflower State but across the world. Maintaining our infrastructure is critical so that our runways and terminals will be ready when Kansans take to the skies once again. I'm pleased that the Department of Transportation has continually recognized the need to fund important projects here in Wichita, like those at Eisenhower National and Jabara."

Rep. Estes supported the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, making $10 billion in grants available for airports. He previously announced a grant for Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport through the CARES Act and announced today eleven other airports in rural parts of District 4 will receive grants

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
